5 Reasons Why Electric Car Drivers Feel a Little Sad
I had thought so. On my blog yesterday about electric cars I got reactions.
On LinkedIn I read:
The headline (above the article) should be: “Why electric cars for rent at AdRem Maastricht will not work”.
Yes, indeed. Electric cars are rented out all over the Netherlands in fantastic numbers. Only those stupid Limburgers have not yet realized how smart it is to rent an electric car…
Or this one:
I have been driving electric for years and have NEVER experienced this. Can it be due to knowledge, planning and how do I use an EV? There are 4 fast chargers between Eindhoven and Maastricht (charging time 15 min) and there are also sufficient charging options in Eindhoven. So where does it go wrong?
The writer knows everything about EVs (electric vehicles). And the renter was just a moron, or it wasn't explained to him properly.

So here are 5 reasons why electric car drivers are a bit pathetic.
1. In the vast majority of cases, they are the driver, and not the owner of the electric car.
The car belongs to the boss, the leasing company or the company where they work. In any case, they pay nothing or almost nothing for the car – the additional tax is 0% or 4%.
2. If they also own the electric car, I feel really sorry for them.
Who pays more than double the price of a normal car, while you can't get as far with it? Or you really don't care how much a new car costs because you simply have a lot of money. If you think like that, I feel sorry for you too.
3. They think they know how the world works.
See the first response to my email. People are shouting: electric cars are simply the future – there is no other option!
I know someone who owned a company that only rented electric cars. This company unfortunately went bankrupt because of all the problems he had, especially with Tesla. But that is not what all religious Tesla believers want to hear. Just look at https://www.ec-rent.nl/
4. They think that drivers who don't drive an electric car are stupid.
See the second response, from the D66 gentleman, to my email. If something goes wrong with an electric car, it is simply not explained well. Moreover, EV drivers think that they are the smart ones who use a low additional tax and all kinds of other subsidies around electric cars.
5. They close their eyes to the misery that comes with battery production.
I have never met an EV driver who responded to this with: yeah, I need to think about that more. I always get a long story about why electric driving is better than petrol or even worse: diesel, and that blah blah blah…
We have done our utmost to rent out the electric cars we had at a good price.
We are a rental company, not a car garage. Those cars cost us money, and a lot more than conventional petrol cars. Money had to be made. That just didn't work out by a long shot.
We talked ourselves silly to get people into those cars. And when someone came to rent such a car, the renter got extensive instructions.
Perhaps the Limburger who rents a car from Adrem much smarter than most EV drivers.
You don't need to own a car to drive it.
You don't have to go from Eindhoven to Maastricht past 4 fast chargers to charge your car. You can drive up and down 1 times with 4 tank.
Choose a car here that will allow you to travel to Eindhoven and back at least 4 times without any hassle: https://adremlimburg.nl/goedkoop-huren/auto-huren/
