Adrem Car Rental Limburg looks to the future

The energy transition, car sharing and the self-driving car. As a car rental company, we cannot ignore these developments. Enough reasons to critically examine our business model with an eye to the future.

Renaissance

The car rental industry is currently undergoing a major transformation. We don't want to say that the industry is out of the dark ages, but you could say that the car industry is in its renaissance.

Our mission is: to provide an answer to the mobility issues of people and organizations. Up until now, that answer has mainly consisted of car rental, but we are also looking at other solutions.

The boundaries between buying, renting and leasing are blurring

Developments such as car sharing show that the boundary between ownership, renting and leasing is blurring. We already offer short-term leasing, which in fact means long-term renting. Who knows, operational leasing may be added in the future.

We now also sell used cars, which we buy from private individuals. Perhaps we will soon also offer our own 'old' rental cars for sale - now they are usually sold back to the dealer. You may not think about it as a customer, but a car rental company is of course automatically in the car trade - where do you think all our rental cars come from?

Car sharing: opportunity or threat?

The advent of car sharing has caused quite a stir in the car rental industry. How do we deal with this?

You first have to distinguish between corporate car sharing providers and peer-2-peer sharing, which is actually nothing more than private car rental. With our fleet, we can – in principle – easily profile ourselves as a car sharing provider. We are currently orienting ourselves on the concept of so-called shared cars: cars that you can pick up and leave at a certain location within a certain zone. You can unlock and lock these cars with an app on your smartphone. This makes our counter redundant in principle.

Away with the counter?

No counter: isn’t that a devaluation of our service? It depends on how you look at it. After all, a large part of our reservation process has already been digitized. Only at pick-up and drop-off do you still come into contact with an employee. It would be much easier if you could pick up and return a car where and when you want. That would iron out the last wrinkle in the reservation process and ensure a better customer experience. We may offer this on a small scale, as a premium service.

Other services

As a car rental company, we are automatically a fleet manager. As such, we have a huge expertise in the field of fleet management. We could advise other organisations on how to manage their fleet more efficiently.

Furthermore, we are of course keeping a close eye on developments such as green driving and the autonomous car. Due to the high purchase price and therefore rental price, there is currently no great demand for electric cars. As soon as the demand increases, we will of course be the first to respond to that.

What are you waiting for? Lease cars, shared cars or more electric vehicles in our fleet? Let us know in a comment! Simple and fast rent a car in the Susteren region? That is possible at Adrem Car Rental!
