Autumn break: what to do? 5 tips

October 14 to 22 is the autumn holiday in the south. All children from primary and secondary education will be at home for a good week. Well, 'at home'... Take advantage of our five tips for this autumn holiday.

Velvet Cave and Castle Ruins

Rain or shine: the Fluweelengrot in Valkenburg aan de Geul is not affected by rain or sunshine. This underground tunnel system is therefore ideal for an outing with the kids. There are guided tours and treasure hunts are organised in the castle ruins above. This way you can learn more about the rich history of the castle in a fun and active way!

Halloween Nights in Toverland Amusement Park

On Friday 13 October, on the eve of the autumn break, the Halloween Nights event will take place for the first time in Toverland Amusement Park. This spooky event starts at 19.00:14 and will also take place on 18, 19, 20, 21 and 27 October during the autumn break. Your ticket is also valid during the day. Outside the autumn break, there are also two Halloween Nights, on 28 and XNUMX October.

Swimming

Wherever you live in South Limburg: an indoor pool is never far away. Our personal favorite is the subtropical swimming paradise Mosaqua in Gulpen. But for a fun day of swimming you can also go to the Geusseltbad (Maastricht), Laco Glanerbrook (Geleen), De Nieuwe Hateboer (Sittard), D'r Pool (Kerkrade) and In de Bende (Landgraaf). But these are just a few of the many swimming pools in the south of the province.

Indoor playground

Going to the playground in bad weather? It is possible! There are plenty of indoor playgrounds in South Limburg. Here you will find Ballorig in Sittard, Darteldome in Kerkrade and Avonturenland in Heerlen. We would rather call Kinderstad Heerlen an indoor amusement park, but it should not be missing from this list. A little further north, in Roermond and Venlo, you will find two more Ballorig locations. In Venlo, Monkey Town is highly recommended.

Cinema

An afternoon or evening at the cinema? Afterwards, to your favourite fast food restaurant? There are few things that will please your children more! You can go to the cinema in various places in South Limburg. Our favourite cinemas are the Vue in Kerkrade (afterwards, grab a pizza at Happy Italy) and Foroxity in Sittard, where afterwards (or before of course) you can have a delicious meal at the brasserie of the same name. You can also go there for just a drink. In Maastricht, you can go to the Euroscoop or Pathé. Do you live in Heerlen and do you think the Vue in Kerkrade is too far away? Then just go to the Quatro (the former H5) for an authentic cinema experience?!
