Cheap and economical used cars
Looking for your first car? Then there is a chance that your budget is not that big. That is why we went looking for cheap and economical used cars. We came up with the seven below.
Suzuki Swift 1.0 Eco
In 2002, this version of the Suzuki Swift cost just under 8.000 euros. Now you can buy a second-hand copy for an average of 1.750 euros. For that, you get a relatively old car in return, but with a consumption of 1:18, a very economical one. Don't expect too much in terms of performance.
Suzuki Alto 1.1 GL
For the same money you also get a Suzuki Alto (2002-2004). This car is slightly less economical, but due to its greater power and lower weight it performs better than the Swift. Tip: try to get a copy that is as new as possible.
Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 FSI
A lot more spicy than the Suzukis, but thanks to the technology no less economical, is the Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 FSI. For this solid German from 2003 you pay a bit more, namely around 2.750 euros. An ideal car for someone who is looking for an economical car that nevertheless performs well.
Toyota Yaris 1.0 VVTi
For around 3.000 euros you get a Toyota Yaris 1.0 VVTi from 2002 or 2003. This Yaris is not as spicy as the Lupo, but has enough horsepower to keep up with modern traffic.
Peugeot 107
This lively Peugeot 107 (2005-2008) underwent a facelift in 2008 and 2012, but this first generation is hardly distinguishable from the later ones. For 2.750 euros you can already own a second-hand example of this spicy three-cylinder, which consumes just over 1:18.
Coincidentally, we currently have a nice copy from 2006 in our used car offer. This car guarantees at least another 40.000 km of carefree driving pleasure!
Opel Astra 1.2 Eco
Are the above models a bit small for you? For around 1.750 euros you can also get more car. Namely the Opel Astra 1.2 Eco (2001-2002). A cheap and economical family car that consumes just over 1 in 15.
Volkswagen Golf 1.4
A little more to spend? This fourth generation Golf was produced between 1997 and 2003. For around 2.500 to 3.000 euros you can pick up a relatively young example. Consumption? About 1 in 14. Not very economical compared to modern family cars, but don't forget that we are talking about a car that was produced before the turn of the century.
NB We only looked at petrol cars with an average price below 3.000 euros.
