Corona dashboard
As a car rental agent, I always get curious when a car is used as a metaphor.
Last Tuesday, during the government's press conference, Minister Hugo de Jonge did this.
Often it is quite descriptive, and you understand better what someone wants to say. It made my toes curl.
'We looked in the rearview mirror for a long time' he began.
Never do it for too long, that's asking for accidents. Unless you're standing on the side of the road, then you can look in your rearview mirror for a long time as far as I'm concerned.
De Jonge continued: 'We want to be able to steer faster and more precisely. That's why we want to set up a dashboard so that you can know how fast you're driving and in which gear.'
To steer better, I think a steering wheel is more useful than a dashboard. And as long as you look in the rearview mirror, a dashboard is of no use to you.
'With this dashboard we want to improve the view of the corona reality.'
How about a good pair of windshield wipers? Or even a cloth to wipe your window clean.
'That dashboard will have a battery of indicator lights: contact investigations, whether the street is busy, information from behavioral research'
A battery of indicator lights? That must be a 1989 VW Golf.
Is it busy on the street? Then it is better to look out the window than at your dashboard.
I am glad that Hugo de Jonge is not my driver. When I listen to him, it seems wiser to me that he uses a driver himself. If he has to look out of the window, he is staring at his dashboard and if he has to brake, he looks at his indicator lights.
Do you have a driver's license and no auto (with driver)?
There are still a few available in all branches for this weekend.
