Lost and found in rental cars
You'll Never Believe What People Leave in Rental Cars
Okay, we've found strange objects in our rental cars, but you'll never believe what customers have left in the cars of fellow companies.
Artificial leg
In Liverpool (UK) our colleagues from Europcar found an artificial leg. Whether a man was seen hopping on one leg in Liverpool afterwards, or whether the renter had just bought the prosthesis as a curiosity, we do not know.
Harnesses
We don't know exactly where or when, but it is said that someone once left a complete suit of medieval armor in a rental car. How you can forget something like that is beyond our understanding.
Hand grenade
South Africa is not the safest country in the world. A rental company once found a stray hand grenade in a returned car. The renter was a private security company.
Human skeleton
In Seattle, USA, a car rental company made a very gruesome discovery. A complete human skeleton was found in the backseat! It turned out to be used in biology lessons.
Glass eye
In England, someone apparently wanted to keep an eye on things, because a glass eye was found in a returned rental car. The owner never came forward.
Stretcher
Whether a sick or injured person was actually transported, we do not know. But a real stretcher was apparently found in a returned rental van. Perhaps the van served as an improvised ambulance for some underworld figures?
Electric hedge trimmer
Okay, an electric hedge trimmer might not be that strange among the other items. But you're less likely to leave a hedge trimmer in a rental car than, say, your wallet or phone, we thought.
Prepared deer head
On your way back from the curiosity market or taxidermist, you decide to return your rental car or rental van, only to forget your newly acquired deer head. Unlikely? Yes. But apparently not impossible.
Underwear
Perhaps not so surprisingly, but (worn) underwear is sometimes found in returned rental cars and rental vans. Probably not because someone forgot it when changing.
Engagement ring
There are different accounts of a found diamond engagement ring. According to one account, the ring was found in a box of chocolates. Another story has it that the ring was in a sock. Or maybe it's two separate stories. We don't know if the ring was ever claimed.
Have you ever accidentally left something behind in a rental car, taxi or public transport? What was it? And did you get it back? Rent a van in the Heerlen region? That is possible at Adrem! Don't forget to take your stuff back home.
