How do I get rid of my old stuff as cheaply as possible?

Everyone knows the problem: you need to get rid of some old stuff. A couch, old carpeting or a few bags of clothes that you haven't worn in years. But where do you go with them?

The first question you should ask yourself is: are the items still usable or do they no longer have any value, even to others?

Sell or give away

You can still sell usable items 'normally' on Marktplaats, for example. That couch that you call 'worn out', may still be of use for years in a student house, for example. Second-hand clothing, especially branded clothing, can often still be sold for a nice amount. The same goes for 'old' children's toys, which have often hardly been played with.

Has something been sitting on Marktplaats for weeks or months and you can't seem to sell it? Just because someone doesn't have money for your old stuff doesn't mean nobody wants it. Maybe you can get rid of it for free. Nowadays there are lots of 'free' Facebook groups where you can give away your old stuff.

You can often have (sellable) items collected for free by the waste processing company in your municipality. They then offer your cast-offs for sale in a thrift store. In doing so, you do someone else and the environment a favor.

Recycle

Often goods are no longer usable, but parts or raw materials still have value. For example, the scrap dealer will happily take that dilapidated bicycle. In fact, this is a form of recycling. Small thrift goods – books, electronic devices, toys and textiles – can also be offered in the BEST bag at set times. You can also return the BEST bag (free of charge) to a recycling centre or thrift shop.

Environmental park

We already mentioned the name: environmental park. There you can often offer your waste (separated) free of charge a few times a year. You can even always bring certain waste free of charge, such as old paper, textiles, electrical equipment, pruning and garden waste, and old iron and metal.

A trip to the recycling centre poses a practical problem for many people: how am I going to transport my old stuff? Often, their own car is too small. Borrowing or renting a small van or delivery van offers a solution.

Rent a van or delivery van

At Adrem Car rental Limburg you can rent a car or bus not only per day, but also per half day. Handy for a quick trip to the recycling center. Maybe you still have enough time to not only take your old couch away, but also pick up your new furniture at the home furnishing boulevard.

Did you know that you can already book a bestelauto (Fiat Doblo, Peugeot Partner, Citroën Berlingo) rent from 9,90 euros per day (excluding VAT)? Insurance and fuel costs are added to this.
