Moving – what transportation options do I have?
When you move, you will of course need transport to bring your belongings from your old to your new home. What are your options? And what are the pros and cons of all these transport options?
Estate box
For transporting a washing machine or a limited number of boxes, a bin may be spacious enough. A bin is nothing more than a covered trailer. Please note which driving licence you need: B, BE or BE+. This depends on the weight of the trailer.
The disadvantage of a van is – apart from the fact that many people do not like to drive a car with a trailer – the price. A van costs an average of 50 euros per day. For about the same amount you can also rent a van, including fuel.
Delivery van
A van or delivery van offers the same comfort as a passenger car and is just as easy to drive. Ideal for anyone who prefers not to drive with a trailer. With a whopping 3 m3 of loading space, a van offers a surprising amount of space.
Van
Vans come in various shapes and sizes. A van suitable for small to large removals over short to medium distances. Even the largest van (with tailgate) you can still drive with your 'normal' (car) driving license B.
If not all your belongings fit in the van, remember that in most cases it is cheaper to drive back and forth a few times than to rent a truck and move all your belongings in one go.
Truck
A truck is suitable for large removals over several hundred kilometres. Below that distance it is often cheaper to rent a van and drive back and forth a few times.
To drive a truck you will of course need a truck driving license (driving license C), also called a 'large driving license'. For some trucks you will also need a driver's diploma or driver's pass.

Hello. I may need a van soon to bring stuff over from London to here. (2 TVs, CDs. Clothes Etc.) In short, small household items. No furniture. What do you recommend? What and which rental contract
Hello Monique,
Thanks for your response. For the stuff you mention, you would be best off using a category S van. More information about this van can be found here: https://adremlimburg.nl/goedkoop-huren/bestelbus-huren/s-bestelbus/
Unlimited km is advantageous if you need to drive more than 500 km per day. If you rent the bus for 2 days, unlimited km is more advantageous if you need to drive more than 1000 km.
