Meaningless slogan

Telephone.

On my day off.

If I have a day off, something bad has to happen before a colleague calls me.

Then at least one of the locations must be on fire.

Fortunately, that is not the case.

My colleague from Heerlen is calling.

The glass that normally sits in the front door is lying in pieces on the floor.

A burglary.

The bastards have made a mess of things.

Not only does the front door no longer have any glass, the inside is also a mess.

Perhaps the burglars wanted to fry an egg, but couldn't find a frying pan. In any case, the entire contents of the kitchen are scattered across the floor.


Fortunately, I had a brand new alarm system installed 2 months ago. With cameras.

Cost a few thousand euros, but it was a good security company. At least that's what they say about themselves: they are a leading service provider.

It's strange that the alarm didn't go off.

So the service provider is not that authoritative: I think an alarm should give tones. Unless you have a silent alarm, but I had not ordered that.

After the police came to take the report, I called the leading service provider and asked why their ridiculously expensive alarm system had not sounded a tone.

They said they would send a technician over.

The technician came by and found that two of the sensors were not working.

How strange, the system was only 2 months old?

No, these were two old sensors that they hadn't replaced 2 months ago. He would do that now.


Great! But that's no use to me now - the break-in has already happened and the alarm didn't work.

You probably guessed it: the leading service provider was eager to collect a few thousand euros 2 months ago, but of course was not responsible for a burglary where the alarm did not go off.

I already thought it was a strange, meaningless slogan: 'leading service provider'.

For free I advised the company to change their slogan to 'whisper quiet, pointless alarm systems', or to: 'We make your world less safe'.

I checked their website this morning, but they are still leading. And service-oriented. They say. So they haven't listened to me yet.

I did read something about taking social irresponsibility. That is true.


I have an increasing dislike for companies that don't do what they say.

Or come up with a meaningless slogan that makes no sense.

We try to rent a car in the Heerlen region ridiculously simple to make.
