The 5 most popular holiday destinations

The summer holidays are just around the corner. And that means that 'we' will be going abroad en masse again on holiday. Before you go, do the annual holiday check for your car, so that you don't encounter any surprises along the way. But where do the Dutch actually go on holiday? We'll tell you in the top 5 holiday countries.

France

France will again be the most popular holiday destination for the Dutch this coming summer. We will taste the culture and of course the delicious cheese and wine. But we will mainly go there for the beautiful landscape. Many people travel to France with their caravan or camper, but holiday homes are also popular. The south of France is traditionally very popular, with the Ardèche, Côte d'Azur and Provence as favourite regions. Brittany and the Jura complete the top five of most popular holiday regions in France. Do you take into account the mandatory environmental sticker when you travel to France?

Germany

Yes! Germany is the, perhaps surprisingly for some, runner-up in our top 5. Land of big pints of beer and bratwurst, to use a few clichés. (After all, we did the same with France.) Most people go to the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) or the Eifel. But Bavaria (Bayern) and Berlin are also popular destinations. Don't forget that tolls may soon be levied on German motorways. We wonder if Germany will still be in the top three of most popular holiday destinations next year if those plans go ahead.

Spain

Many Dutch people enjoy an 'old-fashioned' beach holiday to España. And we are not staying on the mainland, because Mallorca and Tenerife are number one and three in terms of most popular regions, with Andalusia in second place. That is the region in the far south of Spain, with tourist attractions such as Seville, Málaga and Córdoba. The most popular destinations for a city trip are of course Barcelona and the capital Madrid.

Italy

Of course, Italy has much more to offer than pizza and pasta. And a growing number of Dutch people know that, and spend their summer holidays in Sicily, on the Italian Riviera or in Tuscany, with the beautiful city of Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. By the way, don't ask Italians where Florence is, because they only know the city by its local name Firenze.

Greece

Back in the top 5: Greece! Formerly a very popular holiday destination, the country has been consistently kept out of the top five by Turkey in recent years. But these days we fly en masse to Crete, Zakynthos and Rhodes again. Corfu (Korfoe in Dutch) is very popular with young people.

Rent a car for your holiday

Perhaps you are going on holiday with your own car or by plane. But perhaps your own car is not reliable enough for a long journey. Or it does not offer enough space for your travel companions. Have you ever thought about renting a car or van for your holiday?

With a rental car or rental van you can go on holiday without any worries, at home or abroad. At Adrem Autoverhuur Limburg you will definitely find the car that suits you and your holiday! From small or compact car to mid-range or station wagon, manual or automatic.

Rent a passenger bus for your holiday

Are you traveling with more than five people or do you have a lot of luggage? Then rent a passenger bus for six or nine people. That is also much cheaper than going on holiday with two cars! Ideal for the larger family or when you go on holiday with two families or grandpa and grandma.
