People's mobility needs are changing. The lease budget is slowly making way for the mobility budget. Consumers are becoming increasingly cost and environmentally conscious. More and more people are using e-bikes to travel to work. And there is a shift from car ownership to car use.

Increased cost and environmental awareness

Climate change is playing an increasingly important role in mobility issues. The electric car alone does not provide a conclusive answer to this. In large cities in particular, public transport, shared cars and e-bikes are often an excellent alternative to owning a car.

Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the costs of driving. Environmental awareness is also increasing. The car is on the decline as a status symbol. There is a shift from ownership to use. Consumers are increasingly looking for the most advantageous and 'greenest' solution.

Mobility budget offers freedom and flexibility

The mobility budget is steadily gaining popularity. This alternative to the lease budget gives employees the freedom to determine their own mode of transport. An employee receives a monthly budget from his boss, which he can spend freely. What he has left is in fact 'normal' - taxable, of course - income.

Because an employee manages his own budget, he will make more conscious choices. For example, by choosing a smaller, more economical car or a hybrid or fully electric vehicle. The e-bike and – for longer distances – public transport are also made more attractive. TU Delft has calculated that the mobility budget can yield society a net 50 million euros. For example, by saving on travel time.

Rent a car from your mobility budget

You can also spend your mobility budget on a business rental car. A small car rent from 22,40 euros (incl. insurance) per day, excluding mileage and fuel costs. Do you need transportation for a longer period? Then short lease an attractive option. That is not a 'real' lease, but long-term rent. Your contract can be terminated daily after a month, so you are not tied to anything.
