How much does it cost to rent a car?
Renting a car: what does it actually cost? What do I pay for the kilometers and will I not encounter unexpected costs? These are the questions we probably hear most often. Not surprising, of course you want to know what you are paying for and what your 'bottom line' is. We are happy to provide clarity.
No vague all-in rates
We attach great importance to transparency. That is why we do not list vague all-in prices on our website, where you do not know exactly what you are paying for. Instead, we have unraveled our rate and you can easily calculate the total rental price yourself on our site. This way you know what you pay in the end and how much you spend on rent, insurance, mileage and VAT.
When you rent a car, you pay for the following things.
1. Rent
Of course, you first pay for the 'bare' rental of the car. This is a fixed amount that you pay for the rental period (half a day, day or week) and is independent of the number of kilometers that you drive.
For example, does it say that you can rent a car for 12,50 euros per day? Then this is the amount you pay per day to rent your car, excluding the costs for insurance, mileage and VAT.
2. Insurance
If you rent a car, you are required to take out third-party liability plus comprehensive insurance. This is to protect yourself, others and us against the (financial) consequences of a possible accident.
The amount for the insurance is stated just like the rental price for the relevant rental period. Note that you take out insurance for at least one day, even if you rent a car per hour or part of a day.
3. VAT (sales tax)
Companies pay tax on their turnover: the so-called sales tax, better known as VAT. This VAT is usually passed on to the consumer and is therefore added to the sales price, or in this case the rental price.
Entrepreneurs can usually deduct or reclaim the VAT they have paid. A large part of our target group consists of business tenants, who attach more value to rates excluding VAT than including it. That is why we always state our prices excluding VAT. The consumer price is calculated by adding the applicable VAT rate of 21 percent.
Example: on our site it says you can rent a car for 12,50 euros per day. Add another 21% or 2,63 euros VAT. You then pay 12,50 + 2,63 = 15,13 euros including VAT.
And what about the deposit?
The deposit is not actually part of the rental costs. The deposit is a security deposit, or collateral, that you pay to us and in principle get back in full later.
So. Now you know exactly how our rates are structured, what you pay for renting a car or bus in Limburg!
