What size moving van do I need?
Renting a moving van: what should you pay attention to?
A common question we are always asked is what type moving van you need when you are moving. This question is not difficult to answer once you have mapped out a few points.
In this article we explain the three questions you should ask yourself and the car rental company to choose the right moving van.
1. What are the dimensions of your moving items?
First of all, it is important to know exactly what you are moving. In particular, bring the length and width of the largest objects in a map, so that you can be sure that your moving van is big enough.
Also take into account the height of your moving stuff. Vans are often 2 meters high, but that is not the height of the loading platform. This is often around 1.40m of 1.60m.
2. What is the distance you have to cover?
If you are going to move a lot of stuff, it is useful to know what the distance is the distance you travel between point A and B. Are you going from Maastricht to Amsterdam moving? Then it is most advantageous to rent a large moving van in which everything can be taken at once. This saves you from having to drive multiple times and a lot of money that you spend on petrol.
For example, if you move within Maastricht? Then it won't hurt to drive 2 or 3 times. You will then lose a little more time moving, but it will save on the rental price of the moving van. In addition, it is not a problem if you forget something during the move, you can always drive back and forth.
3. Does the moving van have enough loading capacity?
If you have a long distance to cover and therefore want to move everything at once, make sure that the moving van enough charging capacity has. The payload is the maximum weight the bus can carry. This means that the weight of the bus itself does not count.
Example: if you need a moving van to transport laminate flooring for your new floor 100 square meters, then the load capacity may be too low. Laminate and underlay together can quickly reach around 800 kilo weigh. But also keep in mind that you also have to add the weight of the number of people in the bus. The total load of the bus in this example can easily exceed the 1000 kilo roads.
Therefore, ask the car rental company in advance what the loading capacity of the moving van is to avoid major problems.
