What do you put in the bus?

6:30 in the morning.

It is already light.

I hear birds whistling.

Luckily, I'm almost waking up before the alarm goes off.

My phone is ringing.

Unknown number.

With a sleepy voice I answer the phone. A very enthusiastic lady on the line.

´Good morning! South Limburg Police! Can I ask you something?´

Well, I’m awake now. Give me an interview…

"Is the van with the license plate Victor Tango 819 Kilo your company's?"

What kind of van? I'm slowly beginning to understand that it's a van van Adrem must go.

Yes, that could very well be the case.

What do you mean, what’s wrong with the bus? I ask the officer.

The bus was parked in an upscale neighborhood in Meerssen.

There were a few police officers standing next to the bus.

A GPS signal had led them to the bus.

Last night a small excavator was stolen from a construction site in Meerssen. This shovel had GPS, which made it possible to find the thing via the internet. Our bus was parked at a public garden. There was no shovel to be found anywhere, so there was a good chance that the shovel had been stolen and was parked in our bus.

The friendly officer asked me to come to the bus with a spare key to open it. If I didn't feel like doing that, the officers could also force the lock.

I told them that I thought it was a nice offer from the officers, but that I would rather come by myself with the spare key.

Got dressed quickly, drove to the office, looked for a spare key and went to Meerssen.

There, at the park, stood our rented bus, a few police officers and a police car.

Most of the residents were clearly not used to this. Behind several windows, people were secretly peering through the curtains. What was going on in their neat little neighborhood?

The door of the bus was quickly opened, and I lowered the back hatch.

And sure enough, there was the shovel crammed into the bus.

I've come across quite a few strange objects in rental vans, but I'd never seen a shovel. How on earth did they get that thing in the van? If they'd used the tail lift, it would have definitely failed.

There were 2 ramps next to the shovel. We could use them now to get the excavator out of the bus again.

Back at the office we called the bus renter.

He knew nothing – he had lent the bus to his brother.

Yes Yes.

If you need to transport something other than stolen shovels with GPS, you are more than welcome to rent a van.

We are fully booked in Sittard this weekend, There are still a few available in Maastricht and Heerlen:https://adremlimburg.nl/goedkoop-huren/bestelbus-huren/
