The air conditioning system in your car is not maintenance-free. Although major maintenance is only required every five years, it is advisable to have the air conditioning checked once a year and refilled every two years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most important thing is to top up the refrigerant regularly. Without refrigerant, your air conditioning will eventually break down. Repairing or replacing a broken air conditioner comes with a hefty price tag. The less refrigerant there is, the worse your air conditioning works. You'll also use more fuel. A foul smell in your car indicates the presence of bacteria or mould in your air conditioning system. You then need to have your air conditioning cleaned for a few tens of pounds, although you could have prevented this with preventative maintenance.<\/p>\n

If the air conditioning is not cooling well, this probably indicates too little refrigerant. Topping it up will resolve the problem.
