A Full hybrid car can in principle drive fully electric. This is in contrast to a Mild hybrid, where the electric motor only supports the combustion engine during acceleration.

Although a Full hybrid car Only able to run on fuel, most hybrid cars make ‘clever’ use of both engines. The electric motor pulls away silently, and at higher speeds, the combustion engine (largely) takes over. The electric motor kicks in when extra power is needed, for instance, when you accelerate to overtake someone.

Standard hybrids cannot be charged externally. The battery is recharged while driving by using the energy released during braking and/or by utilising excess power from the combustion engine. With a plug-in hybrid, however, the battery can also be charged by plugging it into a socket. Thanks to their larger battery packs, these plug-in hybrids can now cover respectable distances.

All-electric

Fully electric cars only have an electric motor and run exclusively on electricity, supplied by the battery. As no fossil fuels are burned, there are zero emissions.

An example of a fully electric car is the Hyundai IONIQ Electric, which is now available for rent from us. The electric motor of this car delivers 100 kW, equivalent to 136 bhp. Thanks to the 295 Nm of torque available instantly from a standstill, this 5-seater sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds. With a battery capacity of 38 kWh, the realistic range of this electric car (based on EVDB Real Range) is 265 km. After that, you will need to recharge the battery. With a fast charger, you can be back on the road within an hour.
Finally, there are also electric cars which, while running on electricity, have a small combustion engine – a so-called range extender – recharges the battery when it's running low. Although this internal combustion engine doesn't directly power the car, you can't call this a fully electric vehicle.

Sinds je bij ons een elektrische auto kunt huren, krijgen we vaak de vraag: wat zijn nu eigenlijk de verschillen tussen, en de voor- en nadelen van een volledig elektrische auto en een (plug-in) hybride auto?

[53

post-30199","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-nieuws
["GET
