To Zeeland. A caravan had been rented there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What do you take with you when you go on holiday for the first time with a young family?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A lot. Probably far too much. Just in case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swimwear. For when the weather is nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But also boots. For when the weather's bad. You never know in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I still don't know how my father managed to fit everything *in* and *on* and *to* that little car. It's amazing that there was still room for us (father, mother, and 4 children).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do recall the little car protesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He no longer went into fourth gear; third gear was the maximum. We sped along the motorway towards Zeeland at 50-60 km\/h. Of course, it took an eternity, but it had the advantage of making you feel as if you were an immeasurable distance from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I still remember what the car smelled like. I recognise that smell of a car from the 1970s from a mile off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And what the car sounded like. From miles away you could recognise the typical 2-cylinder sound of a Deux Chevaux or Dyane.<\/p>\n\n\n

You can experience it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The duck we rent out still smells the same. And sounds the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can go to Zeeland with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Limburg is also beautiful to drive through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
