5 Maastricht hotels that offer great value for money

Our price-conscious tenants also include tourists from home and abroad. We often get asked by them if, as locals, we know of any ‘good and cheap’ hotels in Maastricht. Of course, we do! So for them, and everyone else, we've put together what we consider to be the 5 best hotels in Maastricht.

We aren't entirely subjective, because we searched the world's largest hotel review website for hotels with the highest rating and a reasonable room price. This has therefore, in effect, become a top 5 list of Maastricht hotels offering the best value for money.

Kaboom Hotel

Kaboom Hotel arrived like a bomb in 2015! The La Bergère Group hotel offers a luxury hotel experience at a price that can compete with a hostel. In short, you get a lot for your money! You won't find superfluous luxury in the hotel, but all the basics (bed, shower, etc.) are very comfortably appointed. Moreover, the entire look and feel of the hotel is particularly luxurious. For a bite to eat and/or a drink, you can visit the neighbours: the Douwe Egberts café or the Asian fusion restaurant Dadawan, owned by Danny Deng, the most striking hospitality entrepreneur in Limburg.

2. Stayokay Maastricht

Stayokay Maastricht is a hostel offering both private (2-6 people) and shared rooms (6-9). It's therefore an ideal place to stay for larger groups as well as sociable solo travellers looking for a cheap overnight option. You'll only share bathroom facilities with your room-mates. In the bar and restaurant, you can mingle with other guests. The terrace (and some of the rooms too) offers lovely views over the River Maas.

3. Hotel BE41

BE41 (Bredestraat 41) is a small boutique hotel – or is it a B&B? – in the heart of Maastricht, a stone's throw from the well-known Vrijthof. With just seven hotel rooms (for two people), it has a homely atmosphere. For breakfast, you can choose between a standard or a luxury breakfast, which is served in your room as standard.

4. Townhouse Hotel Maastricht

Cosiness reigns supreme at Townhouse Hotel Maastricht, without being dowdy. Townhouse is truly a home away from home, much like how the wealthy used to have a town house alongside their country house, where they would spend most of the year. You are standardly welcomed with a cup of soup. In addition to cosiness, Townhouse places a high emphasis on hospitality, and the hotel is packed with surprising details. Coincidence or not: just like our number one, this hotel also belongs to the La Bergère Group of Maastricht hotelier Rino Soeters.

5. Vaeshartelt Estate

Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt is situated – as the name almost gives away – on the outskirts of Maastricht. In addition to being a hotel, the castle and surrounding estate also serve as a conference centre. Its romantic ambiance makes it a popular retreat for couples, but business guests also appreciate the peace and space. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of this beautiful location: the price!
