5 times surprisingly close

Many beautiful Belgian and German cities are surprisingly close by. We have listed the most beautiful cities within a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Maastricht for you.

Liège – 32 min

A thirty-minute drive from Maastricht, you'll find Liège, home to Belgium's largest market: La Batte. You'll be able to barely move at this Sunday market with over five hundred stalls.

Aken – 35 minutes

In Aachen, you can soak up culture and enjoy some fantastic shopping at the same time, as the main shopping streets are located close to Aachen Cathedral and the old town hall. Is it raining? Then go for some indoor shopping at the Aquis Plaza or the Elisengalerie.

Leuven 1 hr 7 min

Leuven is a vibrant student city. Sights you really shouldn't miss include the enormous town hall on the Grote Markt and the Grand and Small Beguinages.

Düsseldorf – 1 hour 15 minutes

Düsseldorf is very much worth a visit. Visit the Altstadt – the historic city centre – and don't miss the Medienhafen, the redeveloped harbour area with its modern architecture.

Cologne – 1 hr 19 min

When you go to Cologne, you can hardly avoid Cologne Cathedral. The Great St. Martin Church (Groß Sankt Martin) is also well worth a visit. On the left bank of the Rhine you'll find the Cologne Synagogue, where you can get a kosher lunch.

Are you going to Germany? If so, please remember that in most city centres you need a environmental sticker need? This applies to Aachen, Düsseldorf and Cologne, among others. Car hire in the Brunssum regionThis is possible at Adrem!
