5 ways to annoy our employees

Our employees really enjoy their work. They are service-oriented and get a kick out of helping people. However, even the most customer-friendly employee gets annoyed by something now and then. What about then? Well, this.

My driving licence is at home‘

‘I’ve left my driving licence at home. Can I still rent a car?’ You’d be surprised how often our staff are asked this question. We believe you have a valid driving licence, but we do need to see it before we can let you take a rental car. It’s also a requirement of our insurance.

2. ‘Borg? Why don't you trust me?’

Our employees sometimes have endless discussions with customers about paying the deposit. We've already seen your driving licence and a second form of ID, haven't we? And you're already taking out mandatory car insurance, aren't you? Unfortunately, you can't get out of the deposit. When you return the car, you'll get it back in full.

Can I get a free upgrade?‘

If the car or bus you wish to hire is unavailable, you can receive a free upgrade. However, some customers already feel entitled to an upgrade beforehand. Possibly because they have received a free upgrade in the past. But unfortunately. If you have reserved a small car, and your Ford Fiesta is already waiting for you, then we cannot suddenly give you a Ford Focus when you pick it up.

I don't need insurance!‘

Some drivers are so confident in their own driving skills that they don't think they need car insurance. Or they simply don't want insurance because of the cost. However, taking out car insurance is a condition for being able to rent a car. This way, you are insured for damage to others and your own damage due to a collision. A comforting thought, isn't it?

‘I didn't know I had to refuel’

Our ‘full-to-full’ fuel policy leaves little to be desired in terms of clarity. You receive a car with a full tank, and we expect it back with a full tank too. We communicate this refuelling policy clearly as well. So, if someone returns a car with the request, ‘Can you just top up the fuel?‘, we do raise an eyebrow.
