Orval Abbey

Orval Abbey is known not only for its spiritual life but also for its Trappist beer: Orval, which is available in only one variety. On the label of this beer, you will find a trout with a golden ring in its mouth. This refers to the legend surrounding the abbey's foundation. According to the legend, a trout returned the wedding ring of the widowed Countess Mathilde of Tuscany, after she had appealed to God in her prayers.

2. Dinant

Dinant is a city brimming with sights. The Citadel of Dinant, the Abbey of Leffe, the village of Bouvignes-sur-Meuse with its beautiful historic centre, and the Bayard rock are just some of the things you absolutely must see when you visit this place.

3. Durbuy

From Durbuy alone, we can create a top 10 of attractions. If we had to pick one, it would be the Labyrinth of Barvaux, created in a large cornfield with a total length of 10 km. Please note, the labyrinth is only open during the summer months!

4. Caves of Han

Near Rochefort, you'll find the Caves of Han, one of the largest cave systems in Europe. The caves are renowned for their stalactites and stalagmites. Once you're back above ground, the neighbouring town of Rochefort is definitely worth a visit.

5. Houffalize

Houffalize is particularly famous among mountain bikers and for many years hosted a mountain bike World Cup race. The cycling classic Liège–Bastogne–Liège also passes through Houffalize. Houffalize was also a battleground during the Battle of the Bulge.

6. The Rock

La Roche, on the banks of the Ourthe, is mainly known for its castle ruins of the same name, high above the town. You'll also find a war museum dedicated entirely to the Battle of the Bulge.

7. Malmedy

Even in Malmedy, it's hard to ignore the war history. But in this town, which is larger by Ardennes standards, you can also enjoy pleasant shopping and some good food and drink. The surrounding area is also perfect for a walk or a bike ride.

8. Bastogne War Museum

The Bastogne Historical Center is the best-known and most important museum about the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to authentic materials, you will also find three different war scenes there. An Allied headquarters, a battlefield on the edge of the Ardennes forest, and a replica of an inn. This allows visitors to relive the war.

9. Plopsa Coo

In 25 attractions and various shows and events, the little ones can meet Kabouter Plop, Maya the Bee, Piet Piraat, and other Studio 100 characters. If you’re in Coo anyway, why not also visit the waterfalls.

10. Spa

The thermal baths, springs, old thermal spa building: Spa is primarily known as a spa town. But also for the Formula 1 race at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. And of course, for its spring water.
