Birds

Are you really that smart or are they stupid?

Yesterday I wrote about my grandfather who made a distinction between siskins and "drijfsijzen" (which I'm not familiar with in English, but I assume refers to a specific type or behaviour of siskin).

I need to set something straight. That wasn't my grandfather's opinion. According to him, that's how people from Amsterdam saw it.

He said this to show how stupid Amsterdamers are in his eyes: Amsterdamers can only tell the difference between floating and flying birds – they don't think any further.

My grandad came from Vlaardingen, near Rotterdam.

I can still remember one statement of his very well: If they start thinking about something in Amsterdam, they've already made it in Rotterdam. A metro, for instance.

I'm not going to get involved in a 010 or 020 discussion.

I myself grew up near Arnhem. There, they think that people from Arnhem are smarter than people from Nijmegen.

When we moved to Limburg 20 years ago, I thought only Limburgers lived there.

I know: silly idea!

It soon became apparent that in Limburg, Maastrichtenaren live there, and other people (if you ask a Maastrichenaar).

When we opened a branch in Heerlen with Adrem, it was quite an issue: who would work there? People from Maastricht preferred not to.

I learned from our employees in Heerlen that there are 3 types of Limburgers: normal people from Parkstad, slightly less normal other Limburgers, and finally people from Maastricht. Yeah, right.

I am not going to get involved in a 043, 045 or 046 discussion either.

Apparently, we humans find it quite straightforward to divide humanity into clever people (which is ourselves, of course) and others (not nearly as clever as us).

Therefore, today this consideration for you.

When people need to move something, they often overcomplicate things. They borrow a trailer or try to cram the mess into their own car, faffing about with flags on the back of their car.

That's the others – not you, of course.

You are renting a delivery van because you have items to transport that will not fit in your car.

Slim!

For all the numpties in your vicinity, therefore, here is this link.

Can you pass it on?
