In the first three quarters of this year, around 5 percent fewer cars were sold than in the same period last year. This is partly due to changes in the rules for company car tax additions. Although sales rose in the second quarter, that brief upturn could not compensate for the decline in both the first and the past third quarter.
The most popular brands, in order, are Volkswagen, Renault and Opel, closely followed by Peugeot. Of the top three, only Opel has sold more cars this year so far than last year. The 25e Tesla is in the lead, with almost 1,100 units sold. That's more than, for example, Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus, Alfa Romeo and Subaru, to name but a few renowned brands.
