The top 5 best-selling cars in 2017 remain unchanged compared to one year earlier. Volkswagen leads the rankings, ahead of Renault and Opel. Peugeot and Ford complete the top 5.
Ford is being closely followed by Toyota (6), which saw a significant increase in sales in our country last year, climbing from 8th to 6th place. Skoda (9) is also on the rise in terms of sales figures and ranking. Meanwhile, Kia (7), BMW (8), and Mercedes-Benz (10) had to cede one place each.
Although the brands in places 6-10 swapped places, we see no newcomers in the top ten.
The model
Volkswagen and Renault both have no fewer than three models in the top 10.
For Volkswagen, these are the Up (2), Golf (3) and Polo (8). In 2017, significantly fewer of the latter model were sold compared to the previous year, when Volkswagen's compact model still ranked third.
The best-selling model of 2017 was the Renault Clio. The French car manufacturer also had the Captur (9th) and Mégane (10th) in the top 10.
The top 10 is completed by the popular Opel Karl (4), which made a strong entry, the Kia Picanto (5), Opel Astra (6), and Ford Fiesta (7).
‘Worst-selling models
Perhaps even more interesting than the best-selling models are the cars that sold the least. In other words, the exclusive models.
For example, in 2017, one Ferrari F12 was delivered in the Netherlands, and one McLaren 650. Not bad, considering you have to shell out almost two and a half hundred thousand for the latter. For that money, you could almost gift your entire family a Renault Clio.
A little quiz question: do you know how many models from the top 10 you can hire from us? Car hire in the Stein region can easily be done at Adrem!
