With its park-like surroundings, many native and exotic animals, petting zoo and playground, Kasteelpark Born guarantees a fun day out with the children.
Park residents
Kasteelpark Born is located in the former gardens of Born Castle, which was destroyed by fire in the 1930s and of which only a ruin now remains. In this animal park, you can enjoy a lovely walk and, as you pass by, get acquainted with the park's inhabitants, including the many ducks, geese, and swans in the moats. Especially enjoyable during the breeding season!
One of the first animals you'll encounter in the park are the woolly alpacas. After that, you can feed the deer (food bags for sale at the ticket office), but watch your fingers, as they share their enclosure with the greedy ñandús – distant relatives of the ostrich.
The park actually has too many animal species to list. However, here are a few: monkeys, squirrels, camels, llamas, tortoises, lynxes, coatis, arctic foxes, porcupines, skunks, wallabies and raccoons.

Chicken coop and tick house
Not all the animals in the park are behind fences or bars. In the petting zoo, you're allowed to pet the mischievous goats. Be sure to hide all food well, as these curious rascals have a nose for it! Also, don't forget to cast an eye over the otter enclosure. You'll encounter less cuddly animals, such as insects, spiders, frogs, and iguanas, in the Creepy-Crawly House.
Playground and catering
In the heart of the park, you'll find a playground with various play equipment, a climbing frame, and a large bouncy castle. Right next to it stands a viewing tower which offers a magnificent view over the entire park.
Parents can keep an eye on their playing children from the terrace of catering establishment ’t Uulke, where you can get something to eat and drink. In the autumn and winter months, the wood-burning stove is lit on the covered terrace. Cosy, with a cup of hot chocolate or an autumn bock beer.

Activities
Throughout the year, there are various activities in Born Castle Park, including presentations and workshops. For example, there's always a spring fair at the end of April, and on Whit Monday, the sheep have to be shorn of their winter coats.
