Won't the bridge collapse?

‘The moon is made of blue cheese

During my first philosophy lectures, the strangest examples were given to make clear that we don't know as much as we think. Can you prove the moon IS NOT made of blue cheese? Tricky.

How can you know if what you experience during the day is reality, and what you dream at night is not? Perhaps your dream is real, and what you experience during the day is a dream.

If you are driving on an unknown road, how can you know that the continuation of that road is actually tarmac and not black mud that just looks like tarmac? You have never been there before, so you cannot prove that the road will remain hard.

This example reminded me of my first holiday in the Alps.

We were talking about enormous valley bridges with spectacular views, but also with a huge drop below you. The family members with a fear of heights found that quite scary.

Luckily, my father would reassure us: those bridges are calculated beforehand to hold a bridge full of fully loaded lorries, and then some. Such a bridge wouldn't collapse.

No, perhaps not in the 80s, but now that we're 30 years later, sometimes yes.

A concerned lady is calling.

‘How many kilograms can the bus carry?’

She would like to know that. She has to go to Italy by bus.

Stories about collapsing bridges have made her a little scared.

I am telling her that the payload capacity is listed on our website for every bus.

‘But then you still don't know how heavy the bus is in total,’ she says worriedly.

That's right, I say, it's not stated. But there's a rule of thumb that allows you to know that.

All the minibuses you can rent from us can be driven with a B driving licence. With that licence, you can drive vehicles with an unladen weight plus the maximum payload up to 3500 kg. So, provided you don't overload the minibus, you'll weigh a maximum of 3500 kg.

The bus with the largest load capacity can be found here..

For heavy items, it's best to use this bus. It can carry over 1000 kg of items.

The bus with the largest loading volume is here.

The load capacity of this bus is lower because it has a furniture box and, in particular, a heavy loading lift. This is at the expense of your load capacity.

Although this bus can carry more (20 m³ of goods), the payload is only 540 kg.

Please choose delivery van in the Geleen region Out.

I just can't guarantee that a bridge in Italy won't collapse if our bus drives over it.
