Cheap fuel: 4 tips

By paying attention to the little things, you can save tens of euros on your fuel costs per year. In this blog 4 tips on how to fill up cheaply.

1. Ignore manned gas stations

One gas station is more expensive than the other. For a liter of petrol or diesel you pay the most at Texaco, BP and Total. The least at the unmanned stations of Tango and Tinq.

2. Don't refuel along the highway

Avoid filling up along the highway. You will pay 10 cents more per liter here.

3. To take a detour or not?

Do you live near the border? Then it pays to fill up in Belgium or Germany. Petrol is a lot cheaper here. Diesel is not or hardly. Do you have to drive too far? Then filling up across the border quickly becomes unprofitable. Driving one kilometre costs an average of 20 cents in fuel costs and depreciation.

4. Refuel in the afternoon or evening

Sometimes it also makes a difference when you fill up. In general, filling up in the morning is more expensive than in the afternoon or evening. Filling up is most expensive on Mondays. On Saturdays, you fill up the cheapest on average.

Conclusion: it is best to fill up on Saturday afternoon or evening at a cheap gas station near you or on the route to work.

Do you fill up at an unmanned gas station? And do you drive to Belgium or Germany to fill up?
