‘Why are you asking that?’
‘Just because I'm curious.’
‘Do you think that would fit: a hippopotamus in a hire car? I don't know what you think, but I couldn't get a hippo into an Opel Corsa, you know.’
What a strange conversation, isn't it?
It almost really happened.
Over the past few weeks, I have been training our newest employee.
His name is Adhoc.
It's not a real employee, but the chatbot on our website.
Before a chatbot can speak to our customers, it naturally needs to be trained first.
That's why I gave Adhoc plenty to read.
Manuals for all the cars and buses we hire.
Our staff handbook.
Lists of rental rates.
Our website.
The Bible.
In 15 minutes, he had it all out.
After that, I had entire conversations with Adhoc.
We spoke about the meaning of life.
Regarding what is beautiful and what is not.
What car brand I would be if I were a car.
Last week Adhoc took an exam.
And guess what: he passed!
He got an 8.
He was able to reel off our core values.
Which employees work in Sittard.
And how to open the fuel cap on a Kia Picanto.
He was also able to say how much a people carrier costs for 6 people for the Whitsun weekend in 2047 with 435 km included.
He even knew which bus I should hire if I want to transport a table with four chairs, a bench and a bed.
But yes, when I'm practising with such a serious bloke, I get silly.
Therefore, I tried something out and asked if I could take a hippopotamus in a rental car.
Blimey, he even had a good answer for that.
Do you also want to talk to Adhoc?
That's very easy.
