De Nachtegaal Inn
Uitspanning De Nachtegaal can be found in Meerssen. Somewhere halfway between Maastricht and Valkenburg aan de Geul. You can enjoy wonderful walks and bike rides in the vicinity. However, it is also easily accessible by car. And that is very worthwhile. You can go there for a hot or cold lunch and dinner, but also for a snack. The drinks menu offers something for everyone. They have about ten draught beers, including their own Nightingale, a.m.b.e.r b.e.e.r. Please help yourself to another; the kids will be entertained in the playground!
Boscafé ’t Hijgend Hert
Boscafé ’t Hijgend Hert is an establishment known far beyond the region. You'll find the café in the triangle of Vijlen, Epen, and Vaals, in the Kerperbos, part of the larger Vijlenerbos. It's hard to choose between the rustic atmosphere of the brown café and the magnificent view from the panoramic terrace. That is, if you can even get a seat, as it's always pleasantly busy on days off. The menu, with its typical regional dishes, perfectly matches the atmosphere of the café. 't Hijgend Hert also has its own beer: Hert, Vijlenerbosbier, a blonde beer. For at home, besides a blonde, a brown beer in bottles is also available.
Chalet Tivoli
Chalet The French word for ‘hut’ is indeed 'hut', and this little place is not much more than that. As you would expect from an occasion like this, you can enjoy hearty (regional) dishes in true Burgundian style. And that's just as well if you're going for a good long walk in the beautiful surroundings, uphill towards Vilt or Berg en Terblijt.
Herberg De Geulhemermolen
If you follow the Geul river from Chalet Tivoli in the direction of Geulhem, you will sooner or later arrive at Herberg De Geulhemermolen. ‘De Meule’ houses a café and restaurant, spread across several characteristic rooms. As befits a real inn, you can also spend the night there, to continue your journey the next day. The restaurant is modelled on the lines of a French bistro. The drinks menu is impressive. Whether you prefer beer, wine, or something stronger. In the drinks cabinet you will find a wide selection of changing whiskies. Cheers!
The Coach House Tavern
Taverne ’t Koetshoes is located in the coach house of Kasteel Oost manor, a popular wedding venue. It is an excellent base for a walk through the beautiful Geuldal. Taverne ’t Koetshoes has a large terrace. But it is certainly worth going inside to look at the curious interior. The dishes from the menu can be washed down with one of the delicious Castle Beers. The children can have fun in the adjacent playground.
