We know privately, we'd rather throw them straight in the bin. But what does Adrem Car Hire do when you've broken the law and we receive the fine?
Caught speeding in your rental car
You’ll know the feeling: you’re just a little too late getting back to your car and the parking attendant is already writing out a ticket. You called out to them, but once you got to the car, the ticket was already under your windscreen wiper. Wait a minute, not *your* windscreen wiper, but *our* windscreen wiper. Some municipalities or countries don't use tickets, and you realise you’ve done wrong. However, a few weeks later, Adrem receives the fine.
Does Adrem pay the fine?
Short and to the point: no. We pride ourselves on our customer-friendliness and service levels, but there are limits. What do we do instead? Based on the data on the fine, we look for who the tenant was on the relevant date. This research is carried out by an external agency for us. You will receive an invoice for administrative costs for this. You may pay this to us.
Adrem then lodges an objection with the penalty agency, providing the tenant's details. The penalty will then be sent to you at home after some time. You can then object to it yourself, or simply pay the penalty.
Caught abroad
If you've been caught speeding abroad in a hire car, don't expect a lucky break. The Netherlands currently has a fine treaty in place, at least with EU countries. This means we also receive fines from countries such as Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, and Luxembourg.
Fancy avoiding any nasty surprises?
Avoid fines by getting well-informed (or having yourself informed) about parking, speed limits, and other rules, especially when you're abroad. You'd rather spend your money on other things, wouldn't you?
