Pay a little

Pay a little, yet get everything?

A few months ago, I went out for a meal.

That was before the coronavirus era. You could still just go to a restaurant.

For those who have forgotten: a restaurant is a place you used to go to eat (usually with other people). Perhaps that will be possible again soon, but then you’ll be so far apart that you'll probably say afterwards, 'from now on we'll eat at home again, that's much cosier.'.

Anyway: I'd skipped my lunch that day, so I was quite hungry.

When the friendly waiter asked: 'Would you like some bread to start?', I didn't refuse.

You know the feeling, a basket of freshly baked, crusty bread with a truly delicious aroma. And a saucer of rich, salty butter or cream cheese on the side. Absolutely irresistible when you're hungry.

The basket sold out quickly.

The waitress had noticed that too. She asked kindly, "Another basket?" Of course! Bread, a sip of wine – I was having a fine time. My hunger was slowly subsiding.

The second basket emptied quickly too.

When the friendly waitress came over to take our order (she should have done so sooner), I was actually already full. I felt it would be impolite to leave now, so I ordered a small dish.

Funny, that you only have to pay a small amount this way to leave the restaurant feeling satisfied.

I realised that this is the same with hiring a car.

You pay only a little, but you get a lot car in the Stein region Me. Usually even a nearly new car, with the most recent options.

For a few tens of pounds you can go a long way. Ridiculously little when you consider that the cheapest new car nowadays costs over £12,000.

If I think about it, I'm seriously considering a good hike in the rental prices ;-)

If you're quick, Can you still rent a car at the normal rates now?!
