If you need to do without your own car for a while, for example, because it's in the garage for a service or repair, you'll have to rely on another form of transport, such as public transport, a taxi, or a hire car.
Public transport
Hordes of people travel daily to their destinations using public transport. Travelling by train, bus, tram and metro certainly has its advantages. For example, it is a relatively cheap way to get from A to B, and you don't have to look for a parking space. Plus, it's good for the environment. But public transport also has a downside.
Firstly, you are dependent on departure and arrival times, which limits your flexibility. Secondly, you often have to deal with delays or disruptions meaning the train or bus doesn't run at all. And trains are usually incredibly crowded, especially during rush hour in big cities. Finally, if you travel by public transport, you will almost always have to walk a little to your final destination.
Taxi
A taxi takes you from your door to your destination. Ideally, it will also be punctual. You also travel relatively comfortably and don't have to share your taxi with others. Of course, there’s also a price for this – literally. Most taxi companies charge a call-out fee, meaning you’re already paying before you’ve even got in the car. Short trips are often refused because taxi drivers earn very little from them. If you need to be in different places on a morning or afternoon, the cost of a taxi can quickly add up.
Rental car
In many, perhaps most, cases, a Rental car an excellent alternative to public transport or a taxi. If you need to go to the airport, for example. The only thing you need to arrange is a second driver to drive the car back.
A hire car is a godsend when your own car is in the garage for a service or repair. After all, you still need to get to work, pick up the children from school, do the shopping, and so on.
A rental car essentially represents freedom. You can rent a car for as short or as long as you need. One or more days, part of a day, or even just an hour.
If you need replacement transport for longer than thirty days, then Short lease outcome. You then benefit from an extra advantageous daily rate. After one month, the lease contract can be cancelled on a daily basis. So you are not tied down to anything. Handy if your new car is delivered earlier than expected.
Have you ever had to go without your car for a while? For how long? And how did you get from A to B in the meantime? Let us know in a comment. Need a car? A Car hire in Brunssum in a setting do you at Adrem!

A beautiful old photo of Leiden station, estimated to be from around the year 2000, when Leiden already had green Connexxion buses, but the white-and-yellow Katwijk city buses (which also serve Leiden station) were still white-and-yellow.
I'm from Katwijk myself, that's why I recognise it. :)
Incidentally, public transport isn't as uncomfortable as you might think. Only in Limburg was it indeed quite hard to get used to: infrequent, no services after midnight, large areas without bus stops. That's considerably better in the Randstad.
