Limburg is only the seventh province in the country in terms of population, but the speed cameras are very busy there. Only in South Holland, North Brabant and North Holland were there more speed cameras last year.
This can be read on the website of the daily newspaper De Limburger. They base their findings on figures from the CJIB, which were requested by LocalFocus.
Limburg most 'flashy' province
Nearly 474 thousand traffic fines were issued in Limburg in 2016 for speeding or running a red light. 456.252 for speeding and 17.595 for running a red light. In relation to the number of inhabitants, no province has more speed cameras.
Maastricht
The speed camera along the Viaductweg in Maastricht, at the Franciscus Romanusweg, was particularly busy. A maximum speed of 50 km/h applies here. Preferably 40.199 vehicles were driving faster (or through red lights). An average of slightly more than 110 (!) fines per day. Even if each flashed vehicle committed only a minimal (speeding) violation, this pole alone would have added more than 1 million euros to the national treasury!
Venlo
Number two is in Venlo, along the Weselseweg, before the intersection with the Schoolweg. This speed camera recorded 39.856 times. The maximum speed here is 50 km/h. At the same intersection, speed cameras are also used in the other direction.
Heerlen
It is of course a good idea to keep to the speed limit anyway, but you really have to be careful along the N281 in Heerlen. There are preferably XNUMX cars in both directions here. four speed camerasTwo of them can be found in the top 10, in positions 4 and 7.
Fined for your rental car?
Of course, it can also happen that you committed a traffic violation while driving a rental car. The fine is issued based on the license plate, so we receive the ticket. We forward this – without charging any administrative fees ;-) – to the person in whose name the rental contract was registered. Was someone else driving the car at the time? Then you will have to sort out amongst yourselves who is responsible for the fine.
What was your most recent traffic violation? Or do you always stick to the rules? Let us know in a comment! Car rental in the Urmond region at Adrem? Make sure you obey the traffic rules!
