The Netherlands is fond of economical cars

The Netherlands has been the leader in economical driving for three years in a row (2013-’15). The average CO2-emissions from cars sold. This is 101 grams per kilometre in the Netherlands (2015), lower than in any other European country. Are we that environmentally friendly then? Perhaps... But the fact is that the tax incentive schemes, which were abolished this year, also helped. It is therefore expected that the Netherlands will lose its leading position this year and will even fall out of the top three.

Apparently, it helps us if the government (financially) incentivises us to buy economical cars. Now that many favourable schemes are being abolished again, it will become clear how principled we all are...
