On Monday 20 March 2017, the first phase of speed enforcement cameras in the Koning Willem-Alexander Tunnel was launched. If you are travelling south on the A2 (100 km/h), you had better stick to the speed limit if you want to avoid a fine.
In the long term, speed cameras will be installed in all four tubes of the tunnel. On 1 May, the speed camera on the A2 will also launch in a northerly direction. This also applies to the N2 (80 km/h) in the same direction. The speed camera on the N2 in a southerly direction will launch at the end of May.

Traction control
Cameras will only be installed at the beginning and end of each tunnel. The route will therefore not be divided into multiple sections. The two cameras record the moment you enter and exit the 2.5 km long tunnel. Your average speed will be calculated based on the time between these two points. If this is too high, you will receive a fine.
A camera used for average speed checks can not It's about measuring instantaneous speed. Therefore, you can't be fined for a peak speed based on average speed check. Of course, you can still be fined if you're checked on the spot with equipment such as a laser gun or mobile radar.
