Add up all the costs. Consider road tax, insurance, maintenance, repairs, bodywork and new tyres. Don't forget to include things like depreciation and/or financing costs in your calculation. You can also check the website of the ANWB to work out what you spend on your car each month.

An unexpected garage bill can really put a dampener on your mood, can't it? Anyone who rents a car knows exactly what the costs will be and won't be faced with repair or maintenance expenses. If something does go wrong with the car, you just take it back and it gets fixed. Easy and no worries about how high the garage bill will be this time.
Of course you say a rental car is cheaper.
This message is not intended as smooth sales talk, nor do we wish to generalise. How expensive your own car is also depends on you. If you are a good driver and take good care of your car, the risks are smaller and thus the costs are lower. We do want to make you aware. Renting a car is not always more expensive than your own car. Take a critical look at the costs. How often do you use your car? Or do you have two cars and are you considering selling the second car because it is hardly used anymore? There's a good chance that (occasionally) renting a car would then be much more cost-effective!
