The fluids in your car
Without fluids, your car won't run. Some fluids only need to be topped up, while others need to be completely replaced every now and then. An overview of the essential fluids in your car.
Fuel
Of course, we don't have to tell you to fill up. However, it is good to know that driving deep into the reserve can damage the fuel pump. So fill up on time and don't drive in the red.
Coolant
Coolant prevents the engine from overheating by dissipating heat. In some cars, topping up the coolant is sufficient. In others, you need to change the coolant every now and then. In emergencies, you can top up the coolant reservoir with water. You should then change the coolant as soon as possible. If you have to top up the coolant regularly, this could indicate a leak.
Engine oil
The main function of engine oil is to lubricate the moving parts of the engine. Engine oil also has a cooling and cleaning function. It is important to check the oil level regularly and top up the oil if necessary. During the minor and major service of your car, the engine oil is completely changed and the oil filter replaced. Make sure that you use engine oil with the viscosity that is recommended for your car. Here too, regular topping up (>1 l/1.000 km) may indicate leakage or wear.
Brake fluid
In principle, you do not need to top up the brake fluid yourself. Your mechanic will change the brake fluid on average once every two years during the major or minor service. If your brake fluid is no longer at the correct level, this almost always indicates a leak. Your brake system is a closed system.
Windshield Washer Fluid
Windshield washer fluid is, after fuel, the fluid that you have to refill most often. The fluid is important for clear vision and safe participation in traffic. Make sure that you use the blue windshield washer fluid with antifreeze in the winter. The yellow or pink fluid can freeze in the winter.
Even with a rent a car in the Urmond region van Adrem it is important to know the fluids of the car. Of course we make sure that these fluids are always neatly topped up!
