At our home, we share a lot. That's of course also part of renting out cars.
If my bike has a flat tyre, I just grab a bike that doesn't have a flat tyre.
If one of our children has a puncture on their bike, we just get another bike.
This will continue until all the bikes have a flat tyre.
Then all hell will break loose, naturally.
‘I’m not walking to school!’
‘Why haven't you taught your children how to stick on a plaster?’
Oh.
Wait a moment.
‘I did teach you how to fix a puncture, but either you've forgotten, or you're too lazy to do it and will just grab another bike. Otherwise, have a look on YouTube, there are plenty of do-it-yourself videos on how to fix a puncture. Just like you watch YouTube videos on how to cobble together a school project!’
My children won't get over that.
It doesn't solve anything, though. Because of course, no tyre will be patched.
That means walking to school.
All the bicycles have flat tyres, so something needs to be done.
Fortunately, I have a car rental company, and not all the vans are rented out today.
So I'll lug all the bikes with punctured tyres into the van and take them to the bike mechanic.
The bicycle mechanic regards me with amusement.
‘Have you actually hired a van to bring all those punctured bikes here?’
Ah well, that's the advantage of having a car rental company, I say.
I'd rather have been a bank manager or a tax collector myself.
Then I would have had money instead of vans that aren't always rented out.
Now that I have those vans, I might as well rent them out to you.
So if you have a job where you need a van in the Echt region just let me know if you need anything!
